About Andrews
Andrews is a former station in the upper White River valley of Sioux County, about 8½ miles east-southeast of Harrison. Nothing of the town remains except the old railroad grade and trestles in the canyons.
History
Andrews was a stop on the Fremont, Elkhorn & Missouri Valley line, later the Chicago & North Western, which reached Harrison in 1886, and it was already a candidate in the county-seat election of January 1887. Its post office opened in 1906 and closed in 1951. The railroad's 1908 place-name book says the name honors J. W. Andrews, a railroad engineer; other sources say a pioneer settler. The town faded with the railroad, whose service through the White River valley ended in 1991 after a flood washed out track and bridges.
