The Merrick County Historical Museum moved into a new $6.3 million, 28,000-square-foot building at 2716 28th St. in Central City, which opened in March 2026 with a grand opening on April 18, 2026. Exhibits begin with a railroad depot and cover the transcontinental railroad, the Mormon Trail, the Lincoln Highway and the county's towns, with an art gallery and native prairie plantings.
