Nebraska historical marker No. 191, “Harvard,” placed by the State Historical Society and the Harvard Bicentennial Committee, stands at 505 E. Walnut St. in Harvard, just west of the pool. It tells how the Burlington reached the site in December 1871, named the town for Harvard University in its alphabetical series, and how Harvard lost the county seat to Clay Center in 1879.
