This History Nebraska marker in City Park, Franklin, stands on the old campus of Franklin Academy. The Rev. C. S. Harrison founded the academy, which opened in 1881 as one of six Congregational academies in Nebraska and a preparatory school for Doane College. Its buildings included the main hall, Stewart Hall, Harrison Hall and Dupee Music Hall. About 2,500 students attended, among them Frank W. Cyr, father of the yellow school bus, before it closed in June 1922.
