The Deuel County Fair is held each August at the fairgrounds in Chappell; the 2026 fair runs August 12–15. The week brings static exhibits and interview judging, a trap shoot, rabbit and poultry shows, 4-H and FFA beef, swine, goat and sheep shows, the round robin, and the 4-H/FFA livestock sale on Saturday, with a Quilts of Valor presentation that evening. According to the county, the fair was held in Big Springs from 1889 to 1932 before moving to Chappell.
