Courthouse and Jail Rocks stand about 5 miles south of Bridgeport on NE 88, rising about 400 feet above the North Platte valley to 4,050 feet. Emigrants on the Oregon–California and Mormon trails, Pony Express riders and freighters on the Sidney–Black Hills road all passed them, and the site of a Pony Express station lies to the southeast on Pumpkin Creek. The 917-acre site was listed on the National Register in 1973. Open access, no fee.
