The Burlington depot, 501 W. First St. in Hastings, was built in 1902 by the Chicago, Burlington & Quincy to plans by Thomas Rogers Kimball, in Spanish Colonial Revival style, and has been on the National Register since 1978. Amtrak’s California Zephyr stops here daily in each direction in the middle of the night; the waiting room opens about 1:15 to 3:30 a.m., and a new 860-foot platform was finished in 2024.
