The Bassett Lodge and Range Cafe, 205 Clark St. in Bassett, was built in 1949–51 around a 1920s hotel to serve cattle buyers at the Bassett Livestock Auction. Maude Lackaff bought the old Hotel Bassett in 1949 and rebuilt it with local investors; it was a bus stop and a meeting place for buyers on train days. It is on the National Register (2006). The café still uses its original lunch counter, and Cowboy Trail riders stop in summer.
