The Banner County Museum, run by the Banner County Historical Society at 200 N. Pennsylvania Ave. in Harrisburg, has 11 buildings, among them the log Flowerfield School (found in use as a chicken coop on a Banner County farm and restored), a sod house, a log cabin, a pioneer church, a 1910 barn and the first bank in Harrisburg. The main building has a display of county cattle brands. Since 1987 Panhandle fourth graders have spent an 1880s school day here each fall. Open Sundays 2–5 p.m. from Memorial Day to Labor Day and by appointment; admission is free. The steam tractor is fired up on Banner County Historical Day, the first Saturday in June.
