History

Ong was platted in 1886 when the Burlington & Missouri River built through, on land owned by Judge Joseph Eli Ong (1845–1912), for whom it was named; NEGenWeb records the earlier names Greenberry and Joong. In 1890 it had about 100 people, and it peaked at 285 in 1910.
