History
Settlers founded Armada, nicknamed the “Gem City,” in 1873. When the Kearney & Black Hills Railroad was built on the other side of the Wood River in 1890, the post office and businesses moved to the new town of Miller. It was named for Dr. George L. Miller of Omaha, who had stipulated in a deed that the town be called Miller if a railroad came through. Miller was incorporated in 1890 and had its most people, 330, in 1910.
