About Shippee
Shippee is a former post office in the Beaver Creek country in the southeast corner of Red Willow County, about 4 miles east of Lebanon and 6 miles southwest of Wilsonville, near the Furnas County line.
History
A post office named Shippee opened in 1913 and was named for Leonard Shippee, a local landowner and its first postmaster. It counted 14 people in 1930 and closed in 1933 (one list says 1934). The place lies near the Burlington branch up Beaver Creek, built in 1887, but no source found confirms that it was a station. A U.S. Geological Survey topographic map still bears its name.
