History

Norman was platted in 1887 on the new Kansas City & Omaha Railroad, three and a half miles west of the county’s east line, and named for John and Carl Norman, who owned the townsite. It had a bank, the Norman Exchange Bank, and had a town board by 1929. The village was first counted in the 1920 census, with 127 people. Jensen and Youngson waterfowl production areas lie about 6 miles south.
