About Lime Grove
Lime Grove is a former post office settlement on Lime Creek in Hooker Township, northwestern Dixon County, about 2 miles south-southwest of Maskell and 2 miles southeast of Obert. Only the name and the Lime Grove Cemetery remain.
History
The Limegrove post office opened in 1883 and closed in 1902. In 1896 Nels Johnson was postmaster and kept a general store on the former McCleary farm at Lime Grove. The name still appeared on a 1912 Rand McNally map.
Lime Grove is not the 1856 settlement of Concord near the mouth of Lime Creek on the Missouri, which was a rival for the county seat.
