Maskenthine Lake Recreation Area, 56455 839 Rd. about 2 miles north of Stanton, is a Lower Elkhorn NRD area of about 680 acres around a 100-acre lake. It has 33 electric pads (20/30/50 amp, $25 a night), tent sites ($10 per tent) and overflow camping ($10), a shower house with water about May 1 to October 1, and a dump station near the entrance. Pads can be reserved up to 60 days ahead; some sites and all tent sites are first come, first served; 14-night limit. No park permit or entry fee.
