Elwood Reservoir, about 3 miles north-northeast of Elwood and 3 miles south of Johnson Lake, was built in the late 1970s by damming canyon land and pumping water in from the E65 Canal. It covers more than 1,300 acres at full pool, holds about 25,000 acre-feet, and is surrounded by a 579-acre wildlife management area for waterfowl and deer hunting. It is known for walleye; boats are limited to 5 mph no-wake. There is a ramp, a dock and a vault toilet. Camping is not allowed.
